The name explains it all! They do wings and they do them right. During my short time in Greenwood, I didn't get a chance to taste most of the local dishes. We were crunched for time and spent a lot of nights eating fast food. While I wouldn't consider a wing joint to be fine dining, it was definitely better than plopping down in a McDonald's like I usually do. Coworker and I were driving up and down the main street looking for somewhere to eat and she peeped Wings 101 out of the corner of her eye. The parking lot looked scary and deserted, but we were hangry, very hangry. We walk inside and the first thing I see is a couple sitting at a booth with a ginormous plate of wings. At least 75! And the smell coming from it was amazing! Yeah, good choice. It's a neat little place. Some tables and booths in one room, a bar area, and a side room with a pool table and the sort. Right next door is the take-out area. Looks like somewhere to chill and relax while getting greasy fingers. I really wanted to be a piggy and order a bunch of wings, but I wasn't feeling too hot. I opted for the 7 Wing Plate with fries and sweet tea. Four wings in Asian 5 Spice and three in Garlic Parmesan. It was a lot of food for $10 because the wings were so huge. There was no way I was eating all of them and my coworker keep pushing her wings onto my plate! The flavors were amazing. Not too saucy and the wings were fried just right and soaked up enough sauce that it didn't feel like I was chewing a soggy log. The fries were REALLY good. Dipping them into the blue cheese was heaven. Even the sweet tea was good. What in the world? All this from a wing place? The dining area wasn't open on our next visit, so we had to go to the take-out side. I asked for the 7 Wing Plate again, this time with half Asian Vinaigrette and half Italian Herb. Apparently, they're not supposed to split orders like that, but they did it anyway. Thanks! Also got an order of fried gizzards and livers to split with my coworker. Asian Vinaigrette is definitely the way to go because I like tangy, herbaceous sauces. If it were socially acceptable I would have drank it... But sometimes I have manners. Sometimes. The fried livers were great, but the gizzards weren't hitting it. I don't know if it's because I haven't had gizzards in a while, but neither one of us cared for them. When in town and you need a spot to grab some food quickly, head on down to Wings 101 and get your fill!
